Designed for university professionals in admissions, marketing, recruitment and student experience. Ideal for those seeking practical tools, peer learning and actionable strategies for engagement and conversion.

  • Format

Our training is delivered through online, synchronous, cohort-based sessions, for a collaborative and engaging learning experience.

  • Structure

A five-week programme with one module per week. Each module includes a two-hour live session and about an hour of independent preparation.

  • Interactive learning

High participant engagement through discussions and practical exercises.

Modules

  1. What is community and why does it drive conversion?

Develop a shared understanding of what ‘community’ means in a recruitment and admissions context, and how it influences applicant decision-making. This module reframes community from a feel-good concept to a strategic lever that directly supports conversion outcomes.

  2. Designing engagement across the student lifecycle

Examine how prospective students, applicants and admits experience community at different stages. Through experience mapping, participants identify key decision points, uncover gaps and duplication, and design more intentional engagement that supports conversion rather than adds noise.

  3. Working across teams and influencing without authority

Community initiatives don’t sit in a single team; they rely on collaboration across admissions, marketing, recruitment, student experience and alumni relations. This module helps participants navigate complex institutional environments by mapping key stakeholders, understanding competing priorities and developing strategies to influence decisions and align teams.

  4. Community building in practice: what works and why?

Explore examples of community building across institutions, with a focus on the roles of students, alumni, faculty, staff and ambassadors. Drawing on insights from guest speakers, this module highlights what works, what doesn’t, and the trade-offs involved. Participants leave with actionable ideas to strengthen community initiatives in their own institution.

  5. Measuring engagement, impact and value

Learn how to measure the health and engagement of your student communities, identify meaningful metrics and connect insights to conversion outcomes. This module helps participants move from activity reporting to actionable data, showing the impact of community initiatives and guiding strategic decisions.

Outcomes

Designed for busy professionals, the format lets participants learn, apply insights in real time and build a cross-institution professional network. Small, diverse cohorts make for lively discussion, real connections and a range of institutional perspectives. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Define what community means in a recruitment context and how it drives offer holder trust, confidence and conversion.
  • Map the student experience and design purposeful engagement across the lifecycle.
  • Identify and engage key stakeholders, build influence and align teams.
  • Draw on the roles of students, ambassadors, alumni, faculty and staff to increase community impact.
  • Measure community health, track meaningful metrics and show the value of initiatives.
